Wanted! Social Media volunteer

This position is now filled!

Do you have excellent communication skills & love engaging with others?

Are you looking for a way to help support the local community?

We are looking for an enthusiastic volunteer to help build and manage our social media presence from start-up.

The role would suit someone with previous experience of social media and content writing for the third sector, and/or someone keen to gain more experience and insight into the workings of a newly registered charity. You may be a student looking to develop your portfolio and CV, or a more experienced professional looking to diversify your interests.

We need someone who would relish the opportunity to develop a coherent brand voice and amplify our message in these early stages. Ideally you would enjoy growing alongside us and consider a longer-term project to help make a lasting impact.

Hours:

Approximately 8 hours a month, depending on expertise and experience.

Flexible working to suit (e.g. 2 hours a week or 4 hours every other week) either in the office in Hove, or remotely. You will work directly with the Founder and Chair of the Pearce Foundation, Jane Robbie.

What will you be doing?

  • Help set up and manage our social media on an ongoing basis e.g. using centralised tool, creating a content calendar

  • Identify and prepare graphics, video and images to share across all channels

  • Drive engagement by creating fresh, original content

  • Analyse appropriate social data/metrics, insight & make recommendations on how we may improve performance

  • Help communicate our impact via stories and case studies that we can use on our website, or in our annual report.

  • Prepare and share relevant content on the news section of our website and partner spotlight

  • Help to connect us with potential charitable partners and local professionals.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for a friendly, enthusiastic, reliable volunteer with a charitable mindset and excellent communication skills. Someone who:

  • Has experience of marketing and social media, either through education, work or volunteering.

  • Is familiar with using social media and other online tools to generate interest in a business or project.

  • Enjoys writing and editing marketing content for social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Instagram, and writing engaging content for our website (e.g. updating the news section of a website).

  • Is able to build a strategy to increase our social media following and engage followers with meaningful interaction.

  • Is confidant to help develop a coherent brand voice from content creation to community interactions.

  • Has some experience or is willing to learn to use tools such as Hootsuite, Social Sprout, Canva, to help plan social media activity

  • Is creative and can help spread awareness through other digital means (e.g film)

You should also be;

  • Willing to take initiative and ‘think outside the box’

  • Able to demonstrate attention to detail

  • Willing to understand the needs of our organisation and share our values of respect, kindness, connection, growth and integrity.

  • Keen to amplify our message with a warm, friendly, professional tone

  • Reliable, enthusiastic, efficient, honest, conscientious, good humoured

  • Open to constructive feedback

What difference will you make?

Your input will shape how we present ourselves to other charities, not-for-profit organisations, supporters, local businesses and the wider general public. With your help we will be able to help strengthen our Partner's capacity so that they can go on and meet the needs of their beneficiaries more effectively. We will also be looking to attract local professionals to join our bank of ‘Skill-Sharers’ whose role will be to share their time and knowledge with our Partners.

The support we provide is not governed by a specific cause but by how ready potential partners are to take that next step of growth. This means we are able to support a wide range of causes and initiatives with a charitable focus.

To apply

Please contact jane@pearcefoundation.org.uk with a short letter outlining your experience and expertise to date, and if possible, examples of your work. Successful applicants will be invited for an informal chat with the Founder and one of our Trustees.

Closing Date

There is no closing date as such as we would rather wait for the right person to come along. However, we would hope to fill the position by early November at the latest.

Many thanks for your interest. We look forward to hearing from you!
