Funding Writing Room: A Space for Our Charity Partners to Learn, Connect, and Grow

At The Pearce Foundation, we believe that funding is more than money—it’s about equipping small charities with the skills and confidence to sustain their work. Last week, we hosted two Funding Writing Room sessions for our current and past charity partners, offering a space for collaboration, learning, and focused fundraising.

Our current cohort of Charity Partners engaged in a focused session, where they shared their own experiences and learnings.

Exploring Organisational Identity

The sessions began with an interactive exercise designed to help charities reflect on their mission, strengths, and impact. Using word and visual cards, participants explored key questions:

  • What stands out in these words and images?

  • How do they reflect your organisation’s strengths?

  • How do they connect to your impact?

This creative approach helped partners articulate their unique value, setting a strong foundation for their fundraising efforts.

Practical Fundraising Support

The second half of the session was all about hands-on fundraising. With expert guidance from Caz O’Kane, participants worked on funding applications, exchanged ideas, and refined their approach. The collaborative environment allowed charities to tackle challenges together and find new strategies for success.

By the end of the session, partners left with practical next steps—whether that was a stronger application, fresh insights, or new connections to explore future collaborations.

‘More Than Money’ approach in action

At The Pearce Foundation, we understand that sustainable charities need more than funding—they need the right skills, networks, and opportunities to grow. The Funding Writing Room is one of the many ways we help small charities become stronger and more resilient.

We’re incredibly grateful to the dedicated partners who joined us, including Wellbody Wellmind Wellbeing, Apron Creative, Therapy Kitchen, Andys Angels, Community Supporters, Eastbourne Trampoline, Flourish Mentors, and Head to the Sky. A huge thank you to Caz O’Kane for her invaluable expertise.
